creating the cutscene:

to create the cutscene i did some initial research on existing cutscenes and how they are used inside of a game and what is their purpose. from my research i discovered that the opening animation needs to show off the surrounding and give context to the players to why they are there.

i wanted to start out with creating a basic idea of what i wanted the cutscene to look like. using basic blocks i made a blockout in unreal engine so my fellow team mates had an understanding of what i was trying to complete. i then later used this blockout as inspiration for the cutscene i would create later on.

after acquiring models from the other team members i then built a scene with all the models in and animated a character that i created and the other elements in the environment to create the scene. initially i wanted the camera to be focused on the character but i thought it would be better to have the camera start off with showing the environment and then the character so the player has a grasp to understand the surrounding.

creating the main menu:

to make the main menu i started out with a rough idea of the menu i wanted to create and made some basic drawing that i developed with the team.

after i made the rough outline of the main menu and added the functionality to all the buttons allowing you to play and quit the game i then started with designing my own assets for the menu. i then developed assets for the menu in Photoshop that went with the western style. sound was also added to the menu that i created.
